Cypress Creek Lakes – Historically “Green”

Going Green is nothing new for residents of Cypress Creek. In fact, they were recycling all the way back to the 1800’s. Just a short drive from Cypress Creek Lakes on Old Hempstead Highway, visitors are welcome every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to tour the little blue “recycled house “previously owned by the Juergen family of Cypress.

As evidence by the records the family kept and the many stories that have been told throughout the decades, the Juergen’s were a “waste not” family who rarely saw a reason to throw anything away. Clothes and shoes were recycled among family members and when a building was no longer needed for its original purpose, it was converted and reused for the next use.
