
The Lone Star College-Cy Fair Library presents a lineup of special events during the final two weeks of the the brilliant and thought-provoking historical exhibit ‘Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War’ running through February 17.
This is a traveling exhibition for libraries organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office.

The Apollo Chamber Players present “Soundscapes of the World: An Expo in France” on Sunday, January 22, at The Centrum beginning at 6:00 pm.
This musical performance features a program by the leaders of the French Impressionist movement. These will be complimented by a set of folk melodies from around the world.

The 18th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Grande Parade goes through central Houston on January 16, beginning at 10:00 am.
It is the third largest parade in the United States behind the Rose Parade in Los Angeles and the Macy’s Day Parade in New York City.

Enjoy the pageantry of an authentic Native American powwow on Saturday, January 7, at the Cypress VFW Post 8905 beginning at 7:00 pm.
Venturing Crew 32, a large dance and heritage troupe representing Native tribes from across the American South, will perform. They will be dressed in authentic clothing and dancing to a variety of traditional songs. Powwows functioned as an opportunity for families and tribes to unite and celebrate.

With the new year just around the corner now is the time we usually begin pondering what changes to make come January for self-improvement. The most popular New Years resolution always seems to be “this is the year I’m going to be more healthy!” This is a noble goal no doubt, but how can older residents turn it into a plan of action?

Jennifer Lopez and her family were the lucky winners of the $1,000 shopping spree awarded by Cypress Creek Lakes during the Ultimate Holiday Gift Event.
Lopez and her husband, who are both teachers in the Cypress area, visited Perry Homes during the sales event. They have been looking for a new home in the Cypress area and visited Cypress Creek Lakes because they like the family-oriented feeling found in the neighborhood.
Home buyers were invited to register for the drawing at any builder model home during the sales event, which ran from November 15 - December 15, 2011.
Perry Homes Sales Counselor Joe Montgomery presented the $1,000 gift to the Lopez family.
