2012 is a big year for democracy as voters across America and right here in Cy-Fair will cast their ballots for political leaders at the local, state, and federal levels.

Make sure you are able to participate by registering to vote in the primary elections by the deadline, which is this week!


We all know it takes two to tango, but how many does it take to rock the Berry Center for two back-to-back nights of dance competition?

Several student organizations from Cy-Fair Independent School District team to present the Latin and Step Dance district competitions at the Berry Center on March 30 and 31.


Quilting is a practical and enjoyable hobby where sewers stitch together layers of fabric and padding to create something warm and often a true work of art.

Join in on the fun or show off some of your best work at the Tri-County Quilt Guild’s Pieceful Moments Quilt Show, held Friday, March 2, from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, March 3, from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Berry Center.


The Lone Star College-Cy Fair Library presents a lineup of special events during the final two weeks of the the brilliant and thought-provoking historical exhibit ‘Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War’ running through February 17.

This is a traveling exhibition for libraries organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office.


Cy-Fair ISD Presents Student Technology Festival

The third annual Cy-Fair Technology Festival will be held at the Berry Center on Thursday, January 26, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Technology Festival is an open showcase for all Cy-Fair ISD students to present their technology projects to the public.


The Apollo Chamber Players present “Soundscapes of the World: An Expo in France” on Sunday, January 22, at The Centrum beginning at 6:00 pm.

This musical performance features a program by the leaders of the French Impressionist movement. These will be complimented by a set of folk melodies from around the world.


Houston Hosts 18th Annual MLK Parade

The 18th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Grande Parade goes through central Houston on January 16, beginning at 10:00 am.

It is the third largest parade in the United States behind the Rose Parade in Los Angeles and the Macy’s Day Parade in New York City.


VFW to host Native American Powwow

Enjoy the pageantry of an authentic Native American powwow on Saturday, January 7, at the Cypress VFW Post 8905 beginning at 7:00 pm.

Venturing Crew 32, a large dance and heritage troupe representing Native tribes from across the American South, will perform. They will be dressed in authentic clothing and dancing to a variety of traditional songs. Powwows functioned as an opportunity for families and tribes to unite and celebrate.


Cypress area medical assistant students have recently distinguished themselves as the finest class in Lone Star College history.

The 14-student 2011 graduating class at Lone Star College-CyFair Medical Assistant Program accomplished a 100% credentialing pass rate on the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) exam and a 100% cohort retention rate.


Shop a huge array of fair trade and ethically made products at the Justice Market at the Copperfield Church on Saturday, December 10.

This lively event will feature the market, live holiday music, delicious fair trade coffee, food, raffles and a live concert with the Robbie Seay Band.
