The 18th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Grande Parade goes through central Houston on January 16, beginning at 10:00 am.
It is the third largest parade in the United States behind the Rose Parade in Los Angeles and the Macy’s Day Parade in New York City.

Enjoy the pageantry of an authentic Native American powwow on Saturday, January 7, at the Cypress VFW Post 8905 beginning at 7:00 pm.
Venturing Crew 32, a large dance and heritage troupe representing Native tribes from across the American South, will perform. They will be dressed in authentic clothing and dancing to a variety of traditional songs. Powwows functioned as an opportunity for families and tribes to unite and celebrate.

With the new year just around the corner now is the time we usually begin pondering what changes to make come January for self-improvement. The most popular New Years resolution always seems to be “this is the year I’m going to be more healthy!” This is a noble goal no doubt, but how can older residents turn it into a plan of action?

An aide from U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul's office will be present from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30th, at the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce office to listen to individual constituent comments and concerns regarding federal issues. Please note that Congressman McCaul will not be present.
Congressman McCaul represents Cypress as well as a large portion of North West Harris County and listening posts are a valuable opportunity for his constituents to discuss federal issues directly with congressional staff that Congressman McCaul is able to address at the federal level.
The listening post will be hosted in a private area at the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce office. The Chamber office is located at 11734 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress.

Lone Star College-CyFair presents Holidays on the Lake on Monday, November 28, at the outdoor amphitheater and surrounding areas from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
Celebrate the season with college staff, students, and the local community. Everyone is invited and families are encouraged.
Join Cy-Fair Hospital and Cy-Fair Women's Imaging Center in the battle against breast cancer. The groups are working hard to educate women in the community about the importance of regular screenings for breast cancer, a vital step to help diagnose and treat cancer at an earlier stage when treatments are most effective. Breast cancer touches the lives of many Cy-Fair neighbors and the groups are doing their part to help raise awareness of the disease.

Construction is complete and Tuckerton Road is now open in Cypress, Harris County. Tuckerton Road is a now a major thoroughfare connecting Fry Road to Greenhouse and is a major, new east-west connector for travelers.
Tuckerton Road also runs through Phase 3 of the master-planned community of Cypress Creek Lakes. This new artery will make it easier for Cypress Creek Lakes residents to get to Cy-Fair ISD's Berry Center, Lone Star College, retail centers and more.
“With the completion of Tuckerton Road, between Fry Road and Greenhouse, Mischer Development is excited to begin construction on Phase 3 of the remaining 700 acres of Cypress Creek Lakes. Cypress Creek Lakes Phase 3 will have over 1100 lots and 100 acres of commercial land, available for development opportunities. Metropolitan Baptist Church purchased 100 acres located on the Southeast corner of Fry and Tuckerton. We look forward to having new lots, and our new recreation facility mid-year of 2012," according to Randy Corson, Director of Marketing for Mischer Development Company.
