Free Workshop at LSC Cy-Fair: Paying For College in a Troubled Economy

With school back in session it is time for parents to focus their thoughts on how to pay for their child's college education. With a troubled economy this may seem like a challenging time to afford a university, but it doesn't have to be.

Lone Star College - Cy-Fair is hosting a free workshop Wednesday, September 21, in their library from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on how to afford college for your student.

This workshop is for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors who plan on attending college, and their parents. They will discuss some of the tips and tricks that high-rate lenders and financial aid officers hope you won't know.

Information they will cover includes how to go to the college of your choice without being saddled with high-interest debt, how some well-intentioned advice from college advisors can actually hurt financial aid eligibility, how many people who think they make too much money for financial aid are incorrect, some common financial aid myths, and some common mistakes families make while planning for college.

This seminar will be led by Chuck Hayes, a former Harvard admissions counselor. He uses his vast expertise to describe ways that you can afford the school of your dreams.

Admission to this workshop is free. To register please contact the LSC Cy-Fair library. Space is limited so only three members per family will be able to attend.
