Northwest Houston's 32nd Annual St. Patrick's Day parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 14 at 2 p.m., so Cypress Creek Lakes residents should be sure to grab their green and head out for this joyous, charitable, once-a-year opportunity!
Over 70,000 people attended last year to witness over 100 floats traveling along FM 1960. The Parade committee is expecting even more to travel from across Houston for this event. All proceeds will benefit Cypress Creek EMS, the volunteer-based ambulance service that responds to calls within a 250 sq. mile area of the Montgomery County line on the north, the Sam Houston Tollway on the south, Humble on the east, and Jone Rd. on the west. This EMS responds to approximately 30,000 calls in a year.
The 3.5 mile parade route starts at the FM 1960/Champion Forest Dr. intersection and ends at the Texsa Rock Tavern at the corner of Kuykendahl Rd. and FM 1960.
*Traffic*
All intersecting streets along the parade route – Glen Erica, Mighty Oak, Greenwood Forest, Wunderlich, Cashel Forest, Breck, Stuebner-Airline, Forest Branch, Torrey Chase, Gladebrook, Falling Creek, Pebble Bend, Walters, T.C. Jester, Terrace Oaks, Mintz, Draper, Northgate Forest, Welcome, Fritz Oaks and Bammel Village Drive – will be closed at FM 1960 during the parade. The Champion Forest and Kuykendahl road intersections will remain open, but law enforcement officers will direct traffic away from the parade route.
Harris County Sheriff’s and Constable’s deputies will start blocking off intersections and re-directing traffic around 1 p.m.
Motorists traveling west on FM 1960 will be directed north on Kuykendahl Road to Louetta Road, and west on Louetta to Champion Forest Drive, or Cutten Road, which both run south to FM 1960 near the Champions and Willowbrook Mall areas.
Motorists traveling east on FM 1960 will be diverted north at Cutten Road, and will follow the same route in reverse to Kuykendahl Road. FM 1960 should be completely reopened around 5 p.m.
