From 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, the Cy Fair VFD (CFVFD) will be asking the public to make a donation to “Fill the Boot”. The fundraiser helps to gain donation proceeds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and will be held at the Cypress Village Station, located at 290 and Skinner road, during the “Cypress Market Nights”. The event will be accompanied by amazing live music by the band Southern Star. This is the first event of this kind for CFVFD, but they have been on top of MDA fund raising since raising more than $86,000 last year - and they intend to raise even more money this year!
The fire department has had a long-standing relationship with MDA, not only in fund raising events but also in providing week-long volunteers for MDA camp. From the firefighter ranks, CFVFD is very committed to helping MDA. MDA helps victims of muscular dystrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” (named for the famous baseball player who fell victim to ALS in the late 1930’s).
MDA, “Jerry’s Kids”, and CFVFD need your help, so come on out!

The nearby Texas Repertory Theatre (TRP) is presenting the hilarious comedy “Moon Over Buffalo” now through August 22. The play is a backstage romp centering around the presentation of another play where the audience, surprisingly, might include a famous writer and director - and the nerves, the fun, the misunderstandings, and the laughter come together for a great evening for the real audience!
TRP has presented many great plays including Steel Magnolias, A Christmas Story, Our Town, Cabaret, and more. TRP was founded in 2002, and since 2007 has been serving as a community theater located in the nearby Willowbrook area. Tickets range from $25 to $45, and senior and military discounts are available. Show times for “Moon Over Buffalo” can be found at TexRepTheatre.org, and tickets can be purchased by calling 281-583-7573.
